I am considering the idea of CALS illuminating the Alley Way to Robinson Theatre with large scale video projection. This idea will save CALS advertising money, and will immediately t, highlight CALS (and Library Square) on the River Market. This projection will make it obvious when Ron Robinson is having an event and will be the most unique form of display in the area. Marketing can easily create CUSTOM GRAPHICS suitable for special events held at Robinson Theater and place it on this projection using the signage software we are already using.. If done correctly, car traffic as well as walking traffic of The River Market will notice this form of display and I anticipate this move will enhance traffic and attendance for CALS Robinson Theater as well as our other locations. If this form of signage is allowed, we can simply install the laser projector in our window (pictured on the left). By doing this, it allows a dead -center projection on the adjacent wall. Because the projector will be inside the building, we will not have to worry about the new equipment from being damaged by weather or vandalism. t. C Andre' Thornton Digital Programming Specialist Central Arkansas Librarysystem abthornton@cals.org S 100 Rock St. - Little Rock, AR 72201 What are the proposed sign dimensions? Projecting from 244 inches away, we can project onto a screen the equal of a 200 inch screen. This would be with a screen width of 174 inches and screen height of 98 inches. The signage will be promoting library services and events. We definitely plan to incorporate static images, and if it is allowed by city code, we might utilize animations or short video clips. There will be no audio. We would plan to operate only when ambient lighting would be dim enough to see; maybe from 4:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. Seems doubtful it would make sense to open the window. We would plan to project through the glass, and if the glass seems to interfere with the projection, we might investigate replacing it with less -reflective glass. The projector is capable of 5000 to 6000 lumens of brightness, although at this distance, the perceived brightness will be a lot lower. We'll look into this further and comply with whatever ordinances are applicable. We would love to incorporate a wider array of content, but static images will suffice if we can't do more.
