Dear Nit. Carney St. Anthony Main 201 Main Street SE Due to a proposed revision/ modification to the previously approved site master plan, The Episcopal Suite 325 Diocese of Arkansas is requesting a revised Conditional Use Permit for the property located at 20900 Minneapolis, Chenal Parkway in Little Rock, Arkansas. The primary change to the existing plan is the addition of a Minnesota 55414 Prayer House (meditation space) in the woods to the east of the existing worship building. Tel: 612 379 3400 The proposed Prayer House will be a small, intimate space for meditation and reflection set in the Fax: 612 379 4400 Arkansas woods near the existing St. Margaret's campus. The total (enclosed) square footage is roughly 1,500 square feet. The proposed design indicates two outdoor gardens immediately adjacent to the enclosed space totaling approximately 1,500 square feet. The gardens will most likely be a A^^•cuningham.com combination of stone pavers, crushed gravel, and native plantings. There will be a narrow path from the proposed new road to the Prayer House, and this path will be composed of a pervious paving system of crushed rock. The enclosed meditation space is designed to have an occupancy of no more than 24 people. This is a retreat space meant for contemplation and reflection, no large gatherings will take place here. Classes and larger functions will be held at the St. Margaret's facility. It is our opinion that the small size and intermittent usage will have a negligible effect on parking and traffic on the site. The building is designed to fade into the texture of the Arkansas woods. Rather than stand out, the Owner's design objective is to have the building become a part of the woods. A foundation of native stone will rise up from the terrain. New grading will be minimal, as the hillside is an integral part of the design. The footprint of the foundation will be small -28 feet by 56 feet. The main mass of the building is clad in textured copper shingles to imitate the bark of the pines on the site. As the copper ages it will oxidize and form a patina that will blend in with the color and texture of the native pines and oaks. The roof form is an arc that reaches upward to the sky, with a ribbon of translucent glass between the roof and the top of the copper -clad wall. The height of the building will be approximately 26'-0". The over-all design intent is that the materials and the form recede into the landscape and become a compliment to the beauty of the existing landscape. Our currWeris that there will be no variances or waivers required.John W. Cuningham, FAIA Sincerely John Quiter, AIA Thomas L. Hoskens, AIA Douglas A. Lowe, AIA Brian Tempas, AIA - r►neipal John W.
