HomeMy WebLinkAboutCBC_08 25 2022The City Beautiful Commission held a planned meeting at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 25, 2022, at the Willie Hinton Neighborhood Resource Center, 3805 W 12th St. Simultaneously the meeting was virtually held online using the WebEx format. Commissioner Homeyer, called the meeting to order. MEMBERS PRESENT: Kristian Dane Bob Winchester PHYSICAL LOCATION Steve Homeyer Robert Walker WEBEX (VIRTURAL – Louise Carter ONLINE) Beverly Palmer Kenny Stephens MEMBERS ABSENT: BJ Sanders-Woods Troy Laha Michael Miziere Suzanne Peyton ALSO, PRESENT: D. APPROVAL OF THE JULY MEETING MINUTES: Commissioner Homeyer entertained a motion to approve the July Minutes. LITTLE ROCK CITY BEAUTIFUL COMMISSION DEPARTMENT OF PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT - 723 WEST MARKHAM - LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS 72201 PHONE: 501 371-4864, E-MAIL: DSPILLMAN@LITTLEROCK.GOV Motion: Commissioner Dane made a motion that the July 28, 2022, Minutes be approved. Second: Commissioner Winchester seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. TREASURER’S REPORT: Expense Report: In absence of Commissioner Peyton there was nothing new to report. COMMITTEE REPORTS, UPDATES: Public Relations Commissioner Miller inquired if there were any updates from the committees that could be posted on the City Beautiful Commission Facebook page. Commissioner Winchester inquired if the photos from the latest Bowman Rd clean-up had been received. KLRB: Commissioner Dane stated that there had not been a KLRB meeting in July. The commissioner also stated that the KLRB was planning the following events and is requesting volunteers. • September 10, at 9:30am, Murray Park Clean-up • September 14, at 4:00pm, Pollinator Garden Fund Raiser at Hill Station • September 24, 9:00am National Public Lands Clean-up at Benny Craig Park. Staff stated that the dates will be emailed to the commissioners. Adopt-A-Street: Commissioner Winchester stated that he and Commissioner Palmer were able to accomplish a clean-up on the south end of Bowman. Commissioner Winchester also noted that the north end needs attention and requested to set a date for the next pickup. The commissioners decided on Saturday, September 17 at 8:00am for the next scheduled pickup. Staff stated that a reminder would be emailed to the commissioners. T.R.E.E Fund: Staff stated that there was nothing new to report Landscape Awards: Staff stated that the Landscape Awards will close at the end of August and will be voted on at next month’s meeting Commissioner Homeyer stated that he would have the mental award signs made and entertained motion that up to $300 be authorized for the fabrication of the award signs. Motion: Commissioner Winchester made a motion to allow the commission to authorize up to $300 for the fabrication of the metal 2022 Landscape Award yard signs. Second: Commissioner Walker seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. NEW BUSINESS: Staff made the announcements: The next meeting will be Sept 22, at 4:00pm and there will be a variance. Commissioner Winchester inquired about legality of advertisement signs in the public right-of- way. Staff noted that the commissioners should not take it upon themselves to remove any signs in the right-of-way and the proper procedure would involve a 311 complaint to start an investigation. ADJOURNMENT: Commissioner Homeyer entertained a motion to adjourn the meeting. Motion: Commissioner Walker made a motion to adjourn. Second: Commissioner Dane seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. The meeting was adjourned at 4:29 pm.
