Office Space and Operational
Headquarters for D.I.G.N.I.T.Y.
The property located at 1611 Battery Street is owned by the
City of Little Rock. The non-profit organization called
D.I.G.N.I.T.Y. expressed an interest in renovating this house
and use it as headquarter for office use.
A. PROPOSAL RE UEST:
This POD is filed for the purpose of utilizing the vacant
house as an office and operational headquarters for
D.I.G.N.I.T.Y.
B. EXISTING CONDITIONS:
This site is currently occupied with a two-story frame
house. The building is in a state of disrepair and has
historic significance.
C. ENGINEERING COMMENTS UTILITY COMMENTS:
There are no engineering comments to report.

D. ISSUES LEGAL TECHNICAL DESIGN:
There are no issues associated with this POD.
E. ANALYSIS•
The Planning Staff reviewed of the Short -Form POD reveals no
problems with the proposal as presented.
F. STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff recommends approval as filed.
SUBDIVISION COMMITTEE COMMENTS: (OCTOBER 3, 1991)
Mr. Tim Polk was representing the applicant. He described the
project and the elements of the proposal.
Commissioner Walker pointed out that this office project may have
significant impact on the residential neighborhood. There being
no further discussion on this item, it was forwarded to the full
Commission.
PLANNING COMMISSION ACTION: (OCTOBER 22, 1991)
The D.I.G.N.I.T.Y. organization was represented by State
Representative Bill Walker. He offered several comments and then
asked that the request be withdrawn.
There were several objectors present, Mr. Terry Burruss and Ethel
Ambrose. After a brief discussion, the Commission voted on a
motion to withdraw the application without prejudice. The motion
passed by a vote of 9 ayes, 0 noes, 1 absent and 1 open position.
