HomeMy WebLinkAboutletter against JJones4-14-2023 APR Department of Planning and Development 723 West Markham Street Little Rock, Arkansas 72201-1334 Mr. Malone, thank you so much for informing me of the cities intent to turn Shepard and Old Oak into Collector Roads. I moved into this neighborhood on Shepard in 1994. This is been a quiet and relatively safe neighborhood. Kids play in the street here, they play ball with their fathers and each other. People walk up and down the streets here safely. There is not a continuity of sidewalks throughout this neighborhood so walking in the street is a common habit. Since this neighborhood does not have throu411 traffic, people know not to drive fast and they drive fairly slow through the neighborhood because of the kids and the people walking in and around the streets. People who live here know this and watch for other people. There are three bus stops where kids get out in the streets and walk home. One is at the corner of Shepard Drive and Longtree, the second is at the intersection of Old Oak and Shepard Drive and the third is the intersection of Shepard Drive and Jerry Drive. No sidewalks exist from Old Oak down Shepard Drive until you get to Shepard Court, so kids walk in the street. Being a neighborhood means multiple cars in one family so people park on the streets. Both sides are subject to have cars, so at times only one car can pass through a section of Shepard Drive or Old Oak. People who live here know this as well and are careful to yield to each other. This proposal offers no benefit to this neighborhood or to anyone else based on the two letters you have sent me. This only increases the risk of children and others who walk and live in this neighborhood. I am opposed to the City of Little Rock turning Old Oak and Shepard Drive into a Collector Road. Sincerely, James T and Kathy Jones 14105 Shepard Drive ,law 04 jp_ Ala
