intermediate pump station on
the campus of Henderson Junior
High School
This site is bounded by University Avenue on the east,
Baseline Road on the south, Highway 10 on the north, and
John Barrow on the west.
2. Com atibilit with Nei hborhood
This proposal is compatible with the neighborhood. It
will be located on property purchased from the Little
Rock School District.
3. On-site Drives and Parkin
There is no need for. the applicant to provide for
parking since the only people using the property will be
waterworks employee on a basis of once a month and no
more than two employees at a time. An access easement
for construction and a permanent easement for
ingress/egress will be located in the southeast corner
of property that is owned by the Little Rock School
District.
4. Screening and Buffers
The pump station will be screened by a 16 foot chain
link fence on the west and north sides. Most of the
structure is underground except for four (4) feet which
will be exposed. A detailed landscaping arrangement
regarding the facade of the structure has been worked
out by the Little Rock School District.

5. City Engineering Comments
None to be reported.
6. Analysis
The Little Rock Municipal Water Works will be
constructing a pumping station. The function of this
pumping station will be to provide a back-up pumping
source to a major area of Little Rock.
At present, all water that is fed into the western part
of Little Rock comes form the Jack H. Wilson Water
Treatment Plant. Even though a dural power supply
exists, in the event of a power failure for an extended
period of time, this western part of the City could be
without water.
7. Staff Recommendation
Staff recommends approval of the Conditional Use Permit
as filed.
PLANNING COMMISSION ACTION (April 9, 1991)
The applicant was present. There were no objectors and the
item was placed on the consent agenda. A motion was made to
approve the Conditional Use Permit as requested. The motion
passed by a vote of 7 ayes, 0 nays, and 4 absent.
