Dear Mr. Forbess: The purpose of this communication is to provide a response to your application for placement of three portable classrooms on the subject school campuses. I have visited the sites and have determined that the placement of these units is appropriate. Therefore, I am approving the proposals with several conditions. These are: McClellan High School 1. Underpin the structure. 2. Provide a paint treatment on the exterior of the building so as to be compatible with the, existing structures. 3. Provide appropriate anchors or tie -downs for the building. 4. Direct any new lighting away from the adjacent residential area on the east. 5. Submit the structure for review for Building Code compliance. 6. Orient the structure with the doors to the west toward the existing parking lot. 7. Erect a six foot board screening fence the entire length of the portable building area, including the existing structures. This would be a line from approximately 25 feet north of McClellan Drive for a distance of 200 feet, or approximately 25 feet north of the northernmost existing building. 8. Provide a ten foot minimum building separation. 9. Provide all-weather walkways to service the structure. Mr. Bill Forbess October 19, 1989 Page 2 Fo_.r._est He.i.gtts.............nior Hi gh .. . ._ Schoo l 1. Make provision to deny uncontrolled access to the Evergreen curb line: There are several points without curb cut that are constantly being used by persons to access the school site. This constitutes a traffic problem with respect to the sight distance toward University Avenue. Use poles, cables, railroad ties or other large elements as you desire to control this access and eliminate this sight distance problem to the several gravel drives. Underpin the units. plc, 3. Paint the structures beige or light brown so as to be compatible with existing units. Consideration should be given to painting the existing white structure to the east of this site. C/ Cut -only those trees absolutely necessary to site the structures. ' Provide the proper tie -downs for the structures. Orient the access to these buildings away from.' d L Evergreen Street. 7+. Install all-weather surface sidewalks to service these units. 9,0t'Y-_ VCUV,'L o Provide a ten foot minimum building separation. Mr. Roy Beard of the Building Codes office should be ,contacted for purposes of the Building Code review. Mr. Beard is familiar with the several previous submittals and can deal with these issues. This approval provides for the location of these structures on these sites until June 1994 at which time it is understood they will be removed.
