Markham St. Little Rock, AR 72201-1334 (501) 371-4790 To whom It may concern: I am writing to request a Certificate of Appropriateness for exterior design changes at my property, 1016 Rock St. The proposed changes include demolition of the existing half porch and creation of a new full length, historically accurate full-length porch. Reviewing Sanborn Fire Maps through the 1950's, the house originally had a full-length porch. At some point after, it was replaced with the current half porch, which is now structurally compromised and in need of replacement. The goal of this project is to restore the porch to its original dimensions. The foundation of the porch will be built using antique bricks harvested during renovations of the adjacent structure, 316 E 11th St. The balustrade and posts will be made of traditional style turned wood. Balustrade handrails will be added to the existing concrete steps. The porch vi,111 be print: d white ,iTl± gray dccldng rnd a traditional blue ceiling. The roof will have red cottage asphalt shingles that match the existing roof. A hanging gutter will be added to direct water to the adjacent flower beds.
