HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOA ApplicationDear Historic District Commission, I am writing with respect to our application for a certificate of appropriateness for the installation of new front doors at the following addresses: 615 Sherman St, 619 Sherman St, 623 Sherman St, 608 E 7th St, and 612 E 7th St. The doors are currently grouped into three buildings, two located along Sherman Street and one located along East 7th. The current doors installed at these properties are not appropriate for a mid-century property and are made of particle board, which is not suitable for exterior use. These doors most likely were installed in the past ten to fifteen years and are interior rated doors not meant to be exposed to exterior weather conditions. The current doors are damaged in multiple places and have begun to rot and fall apart. The new doors that have been selected have been approved by the National Park Service for their appropriateness for a Mid -Century Property under the Historic Tax Credit program. These new doors will not only improve the overall aesthetic of the properties but also ensure they are in compliance with the standards set by the National Park Service Guidelines for Historic Rehab. A copy of the approved Part 2 application referencing the replacement of the front doors has been included in the application for your review. The cut sheet for the new doors is also included along with pictures of the existing doors and the replacement doors. The new doors will be painted to match the existing paint at the property once installed.
