Sir,
I am writing in request for a rehearing on variance on case
#Z-4645, on our facility located at 5705 Patterson Rd.
In a letter dated July 15, 1986 from Larry Young, Plans Examiuer,
under "Enviromental Code Remarks" number 3 states that we "Provide a six-foot
opaque fence along Freezer Road". We would like to change, with the city's
permission, our fencing system.
Enclosed you will find an architectual drawing and site plan showing what
we propose.
On the front of the building we would like to build wing walls coming off
to the sides. On the sides leading to the street a wood fence with brick
pillars seperating the sections. This will continue down Freezer Road to the
back corner of bur building.Point.A. On the southwest of the property
at the corner of Patterson and Freezer Roads. We would like to build a patio
area.
We feel that this will give our facility a very appealing street side
appearance.
Along the Freezer Road section from point A to B we propose the use of a
six-foot chain link fence. This fence would have decorative plantings along
it's base.
We propose the use of a chain link fence for security purposes. We came
to this realization after talking to business located across Patterson Road
from us and also the City of little Rock Police Dept. Crime Prevention Unit.
It was brought to our attention that there is quite a bit of crime,.'irj::'the
form of breaking and entering,in the area. The police feel it would be easier
to patrol if they were able to shine a spot light over our yard. If we cont-
inued the opaque fence all along Freezer Road this would not be possible. The
Crime Prevention Unit pointed out that if no one could see into our yarff itmight
provide a area that would encourage intrution. You will find letters from
these businesses and the Crime Prevention Unit enclosed. We would maintain
this fence with the utmost delligence, providing decorative plantings and lawn
care.
Our show room and facilities are not a manufacturing facility, but a
distribution yard. We have- to maintain a very clean and orderly appearance
to attract a retail clientel.
