A. GENERAL
1) DESIGNS OF ANTENNA, COAX -CABLE, EQUIPMENT INSTALLATIONS SHALL COMPLY
WITH TIA/EIA-222-F-1996 STRUCTURAL STANDARDS FOR STEEL ANTENNA TOWERS
AND ANTENNA SUPPORT STRUCTURES. THE BASIC WIND SPEED FOR DESIGN IS
70 MPH. ICE THICKNESS IS 1/2 INCH.
2) THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY ALL DIMENSIONS & EXISTING
CONDITIONS AND NOTIFY THE OWNER OF ANY DISCREPANCIES PRIOR TO
ORDERING MATERIALS OR PROCEEDING WITH CONSTRUCTION. ENGINEER/
ARCHITECT'S APPROVAL IS REQUIRED FOR ANY CHANGES TO THE DESIGN.
3) THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR MEANS AND METHODS OF
CONSTRUCTION AND SHALL PERFORM ALL WORK IN ACCORDANCE WITH OSHA
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS.
B. STEEL
1) STRUCTURAL STEEL FABRICATION, ERECTION AND CONNECTION DESIGN SHALL
CONFORM TO THE LATEST EDITION OF THE AISC ASD SPECIFICATION.
2) STRUCTURAL STEEL PLATES AND SHAPES SHALL CONFORM TO ASTM A36. ALL
STRUCTURAL STEEL PIPES SHALL CONFORM TO ASTM A53 GRADE B. ALL
STRUCTURAL STEEL COMPONENTS AND FABRICATED ASSEMBLIES SHALL BE HOT
DIP GALVANIZED AFTER FABRICATION.
3) ALL THREADED STRUCTURAL FASTENERS FOR ANTENNA SUPPORT ASSEMBLIES
SHALL CONFORM TO ASTM A307 OR ASTM A36, U.N.O. ALL EXPOSED FASTENERS,
NUTS AND WASHERS SHALL BE GALVANIZED UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED. CONCRETE
EXPANSION ANCHORS SHALL BE HILTI KWIK BOLTS UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED.
4) WELDING SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH AMERICAN WELDING SOCIETY (AWS)
D.1.1-92. STRUCTURAL WELDING CODE -STEEL WELD ELECTRONICS SHALL BE E70XX.
C. CONCRETE
1) ALL CONCRETE CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE PER ACI 318 AND ACI 301 LATEST
EDITIONS.
2) ALL CONCRETE SHALL ATTAIN THE FOLLOWING 28 DAY COMPRESSIVE STRENGTHS
OF MINIMUM 3,000 PSI.
3) REINFORCING STEEL SHALL CONFORM TO A615-GR60.
4) REINFORCEMENT PROTECTION TYPICAL U.N.O.:
CONCRETE PLACED AGAINST EARTH 3"
CONCRETE PLACED IN FORMS BUT EXPOSED TO WEATHER OR EARTH:
(a) BARS #5 AND SMALLER 1 1/2"
(b) BARS LARGER THAN #5 2"
5) NO SPLICES OF REINFORCEMENT PERMITTED EXCEPT AS DETAILED OR
AUTHORIZED. DETAIL BARS IN ACCORDANCE WITH "ACI DETAILING MANUAL -
1994", PUBLICATION SP -66 AND "BUILDING CODE REQUIREMENTS FOR
REINFORCED CONCRETE", ACI 318-95.
D. FOUNDATION AND EARTHWORK
1) FOUNDATIONS ARE DESIGNED TO BEAR ON ENGINEERED FILL OR NATURAL SOIL
WITH A CAPACITY OF 2,000 PSF. THIS VALUE IS TO BE VERIFIED IN THE FIELD
BY A QUALIFIED INSPECTOR OR TESTING AGENCY.
2) ALL EXCAVATION ON WHICH CONCRETE IS TO BE PLACED SHALL BE
SUBSTANTIALLY HORIZONTAL OR UNDISTURBED AND UNFROZEN SOIL AND BE
FREE FROM LOOSE MATERIAL AND EXCESS GROUNDWATER. DEWATERING FOR
EXCESS GROUNDWATER SHALL BE PROVIDED IF REQUIRED.
3) CONCRETE FOUNDATIONS SHALL NOT BE PLACED ON ORGANIC MATERIAL. IF
SOUND SOIL IS NOT REACHED AT THE DESIGNATED EXCAVATION DEPTH. THE
UNSATISFACTORY SOIL SHALL BE EXCAVATED TO ITS FULL DEPTH AND EITHER BE
REPLACED MECHANICALLY COMPACTED GRANULAR MATERIAL OR THE
EXCAVATION BE FILLED WITH CONCRETE OF THE SAME QUALITY SPECIFIED FOR
THE FOUNDATION.
