Thanks!
Some news that complicates the process: I checked with our zoning team to see what process you would go through at
the permit level and discovered that the fence going north to south (parallel to Rock St) is legally noncompliant. The
previous or past property owner erected it without a permit following denial of the 8’ foot fence by the HDC in May
2007. The fence was built illegally but has remained on the property for too long and is now legally noncompliant. This
leave you two options within our process concerning mending the fence: 1) you can repair the sections of the fence that
require repair as an administrative review and the work would be seen as repair work, or 2) if you choose to demolish
the fence and erect a new one, even if it looks just like the existing fence, it will be considered a new fence and will
require an HDC public hearing and likely a Board of Adjustment approval. Please let me know how you would like to
proceed.

Subject: BRADFORD FENCE ESTIMATE
Hey Joe,
I have attached an estimate based on what we discussed. These are total prices including material, tax
and labor.
We build all of our fences with precision and care. On our wood fences, we set all of our posts in
concrete (minimum of 80lb. per post). We construct everything with ring shank nails, which have a
raised edge on the shaft of the nail to help ensure a good sturdy hold.
We are starting projects in about 2-3 weeks from approval.
With our pine pickets, we don't use Lowe's, Home Depot, Ridout or Lumber One pickets, which are
typically what they can find at the cheapest rate. We use a Red Pine picket that comes from the Great
Lakes area that we have had good success with. It's a little more dense than the Southern Pine and they
are milled very well. It's a good quality picket.
I've also included an option for a high quality Western Red Cedar. It's a durable wood that weathers well
and doesn't have the tendency to warp and bow like the pine can.
I hope all of this information is helpful. Please let me know if you have any
questions. I would be happy to help!
