THE WIDTH OF THE AALK, IN THE DIRECTION OF
SLOPE OF FINISH 6RADE. WALK5 ADJACENT TO THE
BUILDING SHALL BE SLOPED AWAY FROM THE BUILDIN6.
WALKS ADJACENT TO CONCRETE CURBS SHALL SLOPE
TO DRAIN ACROSS THE CURB.
PROVIDE TRANSVERSE EXPANSION JOINTS WITH 1/2
INCH EXPANSION JOINT MATERIAL AT WALK JUNCTIONS
AND INTERSEGTION5, AT THE TOP AND BOTTOM OF
STEPS, AND AHERE WALKS ABUT CURBS, BUILDIN65,
OR OTHER FIXED STRUCTURES. EXPANSION JOINTS
SHALL EXTEND THE FULL DEPTH AND BE SPACED IN
WALKS AT APPROXIMATELY 50 FEET ON CENTER.
50ORED JOINTS SHALL BE APPROXIMATELY 5 FEET ON
CENTER.
An Independent Soil Testing Agency hired by the 6enerd Contractor
and approved by the Architect shall be engaged to perform the following:
I. Soils Testing Agency is to review 5olls Report (copy tP be supplied to
Soils Testing Agency by General Contractor). Agency Is to familiarize
itself with the recommendations of the Soils Investigation Engineer
relative to site preparation.
2.50115 Testing Agency is to oversee the following items:
A. Removal of organic topsoil and loose dumped fill materials;
Determine depth of removal required.
B. Excavation of existing subgrade soils to design grade.
G. Proofrolling of exposed subgrade to determine if any pockets
of soft and/or unsuitable materials are encountered, and if
encountered, determine how much material should be removed
and replaced with a well compacted material.
D. Placement and compaction of fill, both subgrade and structural.
Agency is to obtain representative samples of soll to be used
as fill, determining moisture -density relationships and
relevant Atterberg Limits. Agency is to take in-place density
tests. Provide one density test for each 2500 square feet of
surface area per each lift of fill in place (building and
pavement areas only).
E. Placement of fill to design "rough grade".
3. Soils Testing Agency is to submit copies of ail test results to
Architect for his review. Submit additional copies of test results
to Project Manager and Project Superintendent for their records.
4. Soils Testing Agency Is required to report to the Architect any
potential problems relative to site preparation or any Inconsistencies
of site work relative to the Soils Report.
