Item No. 5 - Z-3888
Owner: Martin S. Dorman
Applicant: Martin S. Dorman
Location: 9901 W. Markham Street and
109 Oak Lane
Request: Rezone from "R-2" Single Family to
"C-3" General Commercial
Purpose: Commercial Development
Size: 13,725 square feet +

SURROUNDING LAND USE AND ZONING:

South - Residential, Zoned "R-2"
East - Commercial, Zoned "C-3"
West - Office and Residential, Zoned "0-3" and "R-2"
PLANNING CONSIDERATIONS:
No adverse comments have been received from any reviewing
agency concerning this request. Several neighbors have
called for information, but there appears to be no organized
opposition. In the past, it has been accepted that the
south boundary of the "C-3" district to the east would
constitute the southern limit of commercial development
along this portion of Markham Street. The property is
partially occupied by a long-standing nonconforming use.
The applicant suggested that the long-term plan for this
property is the removal of the existing uses for the
development of a new building oriented towards Markham
Street.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Staff ,recommends approval.
COMMISSION ACTION:
The applicant was present, and there were no objectors.
After a brief discussion, the Commission moved to approve
the application as filed. The motion passed: 11 ayes and
0 noes.
