Good morning, Ms. Miles,
Thank you for the letter! I will provide this to the Commission.
I have a monthly commitment as a commissioner on the Capitol Zoning District Commission and they meet this month
on October 20th at 4pm. Typically these meetings are a couple hours long depending on the agenda. I’m happy to try and
make WANA’s 6pm meeting if my previous commitment wraps up in time. Where is your meeting located? When the
agenda is set, I’ll have a better idea of how long the meeting could go.
Thanks,

Good morning Ms. Miles,
Glad to talk with you this morning over the phone! Hopefully I was able to clarify a few things about the public hearing
process and answer a couple of the questions you had. To follow up on a few of those questions:
I will investigate the ability of the LOD name to be different than the National Register name. Again, I’m not sure
what our options are but I will get that information together for the meeting.
Walter confirmed that there will not be virtual access to the meeting, it is all in-person. This has been the case for
a bit with every Commission, including the Board of Directors. For residents/property owners that are unable to
attend the meeting, they are welcome to provide comments/questions beforehand to staff (me) to provide to the
Commission on a specific item. For these comments to be provided to the Commission for consideration during
the meeting, they will need to send them to me by email by Wednesday, October 5th.
If you intend to send a letter addressed to the Commission on behalf of WANA, to be included in the record for the
public hearing please send that to me by Wednesday, October 5th.
Again, to request a deferral of any item, you can do this via your letter and in person at the public hearing.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions. I am still happy to meet with you and WANA before the meeting
and following to answer questions.
Thanks,

I’m happy to schedule a meeting with WANA to answer additional questions. When and where would you like to meet?
The October 6th meeting has been legal added and public notice has been provided. The items will be presented for this
reason. However, you are welcome to request deferral of any item at the meeting for the Commission to consider.

Hello Hanna,
Walter met with the WANA Board. We held a special Board meeting to accommodate his schedule because our regular
meeting time on the 3rd Thursday was inconvenient. WANA residents have questions and additional requests. The
October 6 HDC vote may need to be delayed until after you and/or Walter meet with WANA residents/property owners to
address unanswered questions.

Good morning Ms. Miles,
Walter mentioned from his meeting with WANA that there was a comment/request to consider more specific requirements
of the two additional positions on the HDC that could result from the passing of the local ordinance district. The increase in
the HDC membership will be discussed and voted on at the October 6th HDC public hearing (to then go on to the Board of
Directors at a later date). I haven’t received anything from WANA in writing to present to the HDC for this request, so I
want to make sure that you, and other representatives of your organization, are aware of the opportunity to present this
request at the meeting. If asked, Walter will likely speak to it if no one from WANA is present, but it is always more helpful
for a representative to be there in case of questions and to advocate for their request.
Thanks,

Good afternoon Ms. Miles,
To add, we have received several return-to-sender envelopes. I’ve checked each of their addresses and they are all
correct according to the Pulaski County Assessor. Sometimes residents forget to keep their mailing address up to date
with the assessor and this is what causes a delayed or undeliverable notice. If a neighbor did not receive a letter, they
might need to check their address with the assessor so they don’t miss future public notices. I’ve attached a digital version
of the letter here in case it is helpful.

Ms. Miles,
Letters were mailed to property owners either September 1 or 2 using the Pulaski County Assessors mailing
addresses. The notices were for a meeting before the Historic District Commission on Thursday October 6 at 4 PM (Willie
Hinton Resource Center on 12th Street). If the Historic district recommends approval, then it will be placed on a Board of
Directors agenda (possibly in November).

Hello Mr. Malone,
Has the public notice been distributed to the Wright Avenue residents concerning your proposed
ordinance for a local historic district? I haven't received notice. It seems that some residents have
received notice and some have not.
When is this proposal being presented to the City Board of Directors?
