September 27, 2022 Ms. Amber Jones Chair Little Rock Historic District Commission City of Little Rock 500 W. Markham Little Rock, AR 72201 Dear Chair Jones: The QQA's mission is the preservation of greater Little Rock's historic places. Both the QQA's Advocacy Committee and Board of Directors strongly endorse the adoption of a Local Ordinance District for the National Register listed Little Rock Central High School Neighborhood Historic District. According to the National Park Service, properties listed on the National Register of Historic Places are worthy of preservation. We would certainly agree that the Little Rock Central High School Neighborhood Historic District is worthy of preservation. Without the adoption of the local ordinance district, we fear that the continued loss of historically significant resources, either by neglect, insensitive modification, or deliberate demolition, will diminish the concentration of historic resources so greatly, the National Register designation will be revoked. If we do not adopt the local ordinance district and we lose National Register listingthe consequences will be profound. Adopting the local ordinance district to protect the historic resources and manage infill is necessary to keep the National Register status, not only for the prestige of listing, but to ensure continued access to important financial incentives, most notably, state and federal grants and state and federal rehabilitation tax credits. We appreciate this opportunity to register our support to adopt a Local Ordinance District for the Little Rock Central High School Neighborhood Historic District. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. Sincerely, 000 Patricia M. Blick Executive Director Quapaw Quarter Association Curran Hall 615 E. Capitol Avenue P.O.
