PLANNING CONSIDERATIONS:
No adverse comments have been received from any reviewing
agency regarding this request. 9th Street has been
designated as one of the major entry points from the airport
and has recently been improved under a bond project. This
small pocket of residential development is in a state of
transition which has been underway for some time. There are
many vacant properties which have resulted from the
demolition of dilapidated homes. The pocket is about two
blocks wide and surrounded by industrial development on
three sides. Virtually no chance of retaining residential
development in this area exists, nor does it appear to be
desirable.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval.
COMMISSION ACTION:
The applicant was present, and there were no objectors. The
applicant stated that he was not certain of the specific use
proposed for the property, stating that he represents the
owner of the property rather than the buyer. He stated that
it would be some kind of retail store, and that the buyer of
the property was owner of the business immediately to the
east of this property.
