Several neighboring property owners have called to inquire about the request, but staff has seen no readily identifiable position as yet. The request is compatible with the Suburban Development Plan. STAFF RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends approval. COMMISSION ACTION: The applicant was present, and there were two objectors. The applicant made a brief presentation, and the neighbors objecting requested that the item be deferred for one month to allow them some time to consider the case further. After a short discussion, the Commission moved to defer the application to May 26. The motion passed on a vote of 9 ayes and 2 noes. STAFF RECOMMENDATION Staff has had no further word from any of the neighboring residents regarding this application and, therefore, assumes that whatever problems existed previously have been worked out. Staff recommends approval. COMMISSION ACTION The applicant was present, and there was one objector. The applicant made no opening remarks, and the objector, Achel Fulmer, presented a petition containing 27 signatures of area residents citing their opposition to the rezoning request. The objector stated that the proposed zoning would create residential devaluation and create access problems. In dealing with the access issue, he cited a number of traffic counts for the area's streets. May 26, 1981 Item No. 5 - Continued The applicant rebutted some'of the opponent's points and stated that he merely was asking for zoning which is in conformance with the Suburban Development Plan as adopted. After a lengthy discussion, the Commission approved the application as filed. A motion was passed: 9 ayes, 0 noes, and 2 absent.
