Corn South of 35th Street, between Polk and Taylor Streets Rezone from "R-3" Single Family to "I-2" Light Industrial Contractor Yard 1 acre + Vacant SURROUNDING LAND USE AND ZONING North - Industrial and Vacant, Zoned "I-2" and "R-3" South - Vacant, Unclassified East - Vacant, Zoned "I-2" West - Vacant, Zoned "R-2" PLANNING CONSIDERATIONS No adverse comments have been received from any reviewing agency. The request is compatible with surrounding land uses and zoning. Much of the property is within the Flood Plain, and Engineering states that much of the land would be unbuildable because of that. However, the area is useful for the open storage proposed by the applicant. Riqht-of-way will be required on all abutting streets. STAFF RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends approval. COMMISSION ACTION: The applicant was present, and there were no objectors. There was a brief discussion about some proposed street closures dealing with this property, and it was pointed out that the street closures had not been submitted to the Planning Commission. The Commission continued with the consideration of the zoning requested. There were no objectors to the zoning. Finally, after a brief discussion, the Commission moved to approve the application as filed. The motion was passed - 11 ayes, 0 noes.
