3 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 8, ARTICLE I, § 8-2(6) AND
4 ARTICLE VI, DIVISION I, § 8-474(C) OF THE LITTLE ROCK REVISED
5 CODE OF ORDINANCES(1988); TO PROVIDE FOR THE ADOPTION BY
6 REFERENCE OF THE 2021 INTERNATIONAL MECHANICAL CODE
7 AND 2021 REVISIONS; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

9 WHEREAS, Little Rock, Arkansas Rev. Code §8-2(6) and §8-474 (C) adopts by reference the 2021
10 edition of the International Code with 2021 Revisions and Appendix A published by the International Code
11 Council,Falls Church,Virginia; and,
12 WHEREAS, new amended 2021 editions of these Codes have been published by the International
13 Code Council and adopted by the State of Arkansas as the International Mechanical Code, 2021 Edition;
14 and,
15 WHEREAS, the City has complied with Arkansas Code Ann. §§14-55-207 (1987) by publishing a
16 notice of intent to adopt these technical codes by reference in a paper of general circulation within the
17 municipality and three(3)copies of Codes have been available for inspection in the City Clerk's Office for
18 the public prior to their adoption; and,
19 WHEREAS,this ordinance amendment is necessary to update the City Code and authorize the use of
20 2021 Edition within the City.
21 NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY
22 OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS:
23 Section 1.This section of Little Rock,Arkansas, Rev. §Code 8-2(6) of the Little Rock, Arkansas Rev.
24 Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
25 (1) The 2021 International Mechanical Code with Appendix A.
26 Section 2. This section of Little Rock, Arkansas, Rev. Code §8-474(C) of the Little Rock, Arkansas
27 Rev. Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
28 (C)The"2021 International Mechanical Code"with 2021 Revisions and Appendix A
29 is adopted by reference.
30 (D) In the vent of a conflict between the publications in Subsections (A), (B) or(C),
31 the more stringent provisions shall govern.
32 (E) Notwithstanding the provisions of Sections (A), (B) and (C) above, the City,
33 consistent with other provisions of Arkansas State Law, shall set the job

1 qualification for its employees. No job qualifications contained in the 2021
2 International Mechanical Code are adopted in a form whatsoever.
3 Section 3. Code Application. Permits obtained prior to the effective date of the ordinance will be
4 enforced under the previous adopted Code till final disposition of the permit.
5 Section 4. A copy of the 2021 International Mechanical Code, as adopted, will be maintained in the
6 Office of the City Clerk.
7 Section 5. Repealer. All laws, ordinances, resolutions,or parts of the same that are inconsistent with
8 the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
9 Section 6. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or
10 word of this ordinance is declared or adjudge to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or
11 adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of this ordinance, which shall remain in full force and
12 effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not originally a part of this
13 ordinance.
