3 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 8, ARTICLE I, § 8-2(8) AND
4 ARTICLE III, DIVISION III, § 8-172 OF THE LITTLE ROCK REVISED
5 CODE OF ORDINANCES(1988); TO PROVIDE FOR THE ADOPTION BY
6 REFERENCE OF THE 2020 NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE; AND FOR
7 OTHER PURPOSES.

9 WHEREAS, Little Rock, Arkansas Rev. Code §8-2(8) and §8-172 adopts by reference the 2020
10 Edition of the National Electrical Code, and,
11 WHEREAS, the City has complied with Arkansas Code Ann. §§14-55-207 (1987) by publishing a
12 notice of intent to adopt these technical codes by reference in a paper of general circulation within the
13 municipality and three(3)copies of Codes have been available for inspection in the City Clerk's Office for
14 the public prior to their adoption; and,
15 WHEREAS,this ordinance amendment is necessary to update the City Code and authorize the use of
16 2020 Edition within the City.
17 NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY
18 OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS:
19 Section 1. This section of Little Rock, Arkansas Rev. Code §8-2(8) and §8-172 (1988) is hereby
20 amended to read as follows:
21 (a) The following publications are adopted by reference:
22 (8)The 2020 National Electrical Code.
23 Section 2. Code Application. Permits obtained prior to the effective date of this ordinance will be
24 enforced under the previous adopted Code till final disposition of the permit.
25 Section 3. A copy of the 2020 National Electrical Code, as adopted,will be maintained in the Office
26 of the City Clerk.
27 Section 3. Repealer. All laws, ordinances, resolutions, or parts of the same that are inconsistent with
28 the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
29 Section 4. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or
30 word of this ordinance is declared or adjudge to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or
31 adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of this ordinance, which shall remain in full force and
32 effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not originally a part of this
33 ordinance.
