HomeMy WebLinkAboutCBC 09-07-2006LITTLE RDCK CITY BEAUTYUL COMM [55ION The City Beautiful Commission held its regular meeting Thursday, September 7th, 2006, at 11:30 a.m. in the Sister Cities Conference Room on the second floor of City Hall. Vice Chair Jan Hicks called the meeting to order. MEMBERS PRESENT: Jan Hicks Lynn Warren Ann Ivey John Beneke Cita Cobb Mary Jane Rebick Troy Laha ALSO PRESENT: Christy Marvel, Plans Development Administrator, Department of Planning & Development, City of Little Rock APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES: Motion: Commissioner Laha made a motion to approve the minutes as written. Correction: Commissioner Warren noted the previous meeting minutes neglected to reflect the motion and approval for the CBC to reserve a booth at the 2007 Annual Garden Show. Second: Commissioner Cobb seconded the motion with the change and it passed unanimously. TREASURER'S REPORT: City staff noted the following per Ann Ivey: Little Rock City Beautiful Commission Treasurer's Report 09-07-2006 Beginning Balance as of August 3, 2006 $3 3-- 2.87 Credits Interest on Account .64 Total credits $0.64 $3,323.51 Debits None 0 Total debits $ 0.00 $3,323.57 Ending Balance as of September 07, 2006 $3 3323.51 OLD BUSINESS: Whether of not the donation from Chenal Properties had been secured was discussed. Vice -chair Hicks will check with Karol Zoeller and Jack McCray for confirmation. Commissioner Cobb will contact Stacy Hurst about the donation of 3 long-stemmed, de -thorned Roses. It was suggested to ask to applicant if they would like to speak at the ceremony. This year the award recipients can take their award yard signage with them after the award ceremony. Commissioners please, return all of the signs prior to the ceremony. The recipients can keep the signs until September the 15t of the following year. At that time, have them bring them to the Planning & Development Office. The CBC chair, Karol Zoeller, will need to write the letter in recognition to the 3 award winners. Cita Cobb will call to inform the awardees of the date/time/location so each recipient can allocate the date/time. Commissioner Cobb will also verify the name of the recipient name(s). The landscape awards details can be discussed in length at the annual CBC meeting in January of 2007. City staff will need to order the plaques from Custom Trophies. CBC members planning to pick up at Bowman Curve this month are: Mary, Ann, Lynn, John and Karol. Ann Ivey will send out a reminder. Commissioner Warren briefly mentioned the pocket ashtrays and the collaboration effort potential with the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Lynn Warren would like to discuss the various prices of the pocket ashtrays and color options. NEW BUSINESS: City staff noted the potential for 2 variance requests for the month of October.
