Chair Wiedower called the meeting to order. MEMBERS PRESENT: MEMBERS ABSENT: Steve Homeyer Chris Minor Carrie Young Ed Peek Jennie Cole Brittany Snyman vacancy Bill Wiedower Lynn Warren Freddie Ratliff Wally Loveless ALSO PRESENT: Christy Marvel, Plans Development Administrator, Department of Planning & Development, City of Little Rock Beth Btevins Carpenter, Deputy City Attorney, City Attorney's Office, City of Little Rock APPROVAL OF THE MARCH MINUTES: Motion: Commissioner Warren made a motion to accept the minutes as presented. Second: Commissioner Peek seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. TREASURER'S REPORT: no report. Staff updated the CBC of a new balance of $23,309.02. COMMITTEE REPORTS: UPDATES: OLD BUSINESS: Community Projects -Commissioner Warren has sent an email to Phoebe Stephens in the Parks Department about the relocation of the existing Crape Myrtle Trees; still awaiting a response. I-630 Trees- Vice -Chair brought a copy of the current Interstate corridor plan; the rendered copy location is unknown. Discussion about the order of operation commenced. Perhaps, speaking with the maintenance supervisor at Philander Smith College would be a good place to start. Website-Commissioner Warren noted website is up and running with everything posted. Commissioner Warren noted she was awaiting the draft minutes from the retreat. Noted the Farmers Market is open. The CBC Contact list is also up-to-date. Library Exhibit -no report. However, discussion commenced about the display case; Chair Wiedower noted he would contact Bryan Day about the issue. Commissioner Loveless noted that having some means of feedback from the community would be optimal; perhaps, a blog. KLRB It was noted Commissioner Loveless is now the new, full time ex-officio for the CBC KLRB Commission. A recycling event is forthcoming and to be located at Studio Main; Commissioner Loveless will follow up and let the CBC know more about the event via email. Chair Wiedower noted a new program "Be a Friend" which will likely involve a fee. The program is still being tweaked. Thirty-two point eighty-five (32.85) tons of trash were picked up City Wide and they had over six hundred and fifty-nine (659) volunteers. The Gateway Project was discussed, there are thirty-two (32) entrants so far some of which are out-of-state. Next month the KLRB Commission is recalibrating the Adopt -A -Street Program. Vice -chair Minor noted the out-of-state signage for the Adopt -A -Street Program seems to be much larger in size. The KLRB will most likely purge the current roll to begin. Adding the verbiage, "I've adopted this street" to the orange pick up vests might be optimal too. Adopt -A -Street Vice -chair will send out an email again confirming the pickup. It would be great to have a minimum of four (4) people at each pickup. Last pick-up went good. Communications- Chair Wiedower reported on behalf of Commissioner Cole the following: Commissioner Cole had gotten in touch with ABC and they maybe willing to allow airtime during a two (2) hour segment on Saturday mornings. More information will follow. Either the Eye of the Beholder Awards could be discussed or the announcement of the Landscape Awards. Eye of the Beholder -Commissioner Young passed around a newly designed brochure. Options for distribution, locations, and holders were discussed. Motion: Vice -chair Minor made a motion to allow Commissioner Young up to three hundred dollars ($300.00) for the purchase of materials for the Eye of the Beholder Brochures. Second: Commissioner Warren seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. Landscape Awards -Commissioner Homeyer noted the nominations aren't open yet; however, will be open next month. It was also noted it would be great if that could be announced on the Saturday morning TV segment. ADJOURNMENT: Motion: Commissioner Loveless made a motion to adjourn. Second: Commissioner Peek seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. The meeting was adjourned at 12:40 p.m. taCity of Little Rock Department of Planning and Development 723 West Markham Street Little Rock, Arkansas 72201-1334 Phone: (501) 371-4790 Fax: (501) 399-3435 or 371-6863 April 10, 2013 Jennie Cole 332 N.
