MEETING NOTICE
The City Beautiful Commission will hold its regular meeting
Tuesday, July 14, 1992 in the City Board Conference Room, 2nd
Floor of City Hall at 10:00 A.M.-

The City RewiU Commission
The Little Rock City Beautiful Commission held its regular
meeting on Tuesday, June 9th, 1992 at City Hall in the 2 d
Floor Conference Room. The meeting was called to order at 10,00
A.M. , by chair. -man, Merle Seamon.

2. Approval of Minutes. Ross McCain made a motion to approve
the minutes of the May minutes, seconded by Shalah
Brugar,ett .
Josephine Graham stated that the discussion of having
buttons made up for eacIa commission member and
buttons to distribute to school groups was omitted from
last months minutes. Ross amended his motion for approval
of the minutes with the addition of the discussion of the
buttons added, Steve Cato seconded. Passed with all ayes.
3. Latter Awareness. Peggy Harris presented a slide program
on "Deep !!,,erica Beautiful". Charlene Hardcastle arrived
during the slide presentation bringing the total number of
members to six.

4. Reports of Committees.
A. City Beautiful Rids
Steve Cato reported that he had met with Jim Sick
and that things are moving right along. The vans
this year are going to cost more than last year.
Next week training starts for supervisors. On Friday,
June 18, the recognition lunch and press conference
will be held.
B. Winterfest.
Nothing new at this time.
C. Adopt A Block.
Merle Seamon stated that he has been in touch with
Bill Bunten, Parks and Recreation and Mayor Priest
about this program. He asked for their support in
getting Public Works to handle the details of this
program.
D. City Beautiful Convention.
No report.
E. Litter Awareness.
Program presented earlier by Peggy Harris.
F. Neighborhood Ambassador Program.
No report at this time.
G. Awards.
Shalah Brummett informed the commission that at the
next meeting they will be able to review the nominees
for the awards. Voting will be at the August meeting.
Bob Brown distributed a list for consideration of newly
landscaped commercial sites. These have been in place
for one year but not over three years.

I. Development of Environmental Ordinances.

J. Tree Planting.

K. Fund Raising.
No report.
L. Traffic Island.
Merle Seamon informed the commission that they have
a week to get information to the Highway Department
for funding. Merle passed out a list of proposed
sites that need funding. Ross McCain made a
motion that the Commission be given the leeway to
refine and add to the list of proposed landscape
priority list. Shalah Brummett seconded. Passed
with all ayes.
There was a discussion between Mrs. Graham, Connie
Fugedy and Merle Seamon about the possibility of
planting wildflowers in the traffic islands.
M. Capitol Ave.
Ross McCain reported that the contract has been
approved and signed by the City Board of Directors.
The project is in motion. An initial meeting with the
advisory committee and the team of designers will be
scheduled.

5. Parks and Recreation Activities - Connie Fugedy.
Connie is working on an application for bike plans and
is attempting to get additional money for Capitol Ave.
through the bike plan funding.
Connie thanked the City Beautiful Commission for their
contribution toward funding expenses for the conference
in Florida. Phoebe Stephens and Connie will be attending
this conference.
6. Miscellaneous.
Joesphine Graham presented information on buttons. She
quoted prices on large buttons, for the commission members.
Ross McCain asked that she get prices for the smaller
buttons to be given to school children. Connie Fugedy
Connie Fugedy showed the group the Parks and Recreation
pins. Discussion on the buttons will be carried over to
the next meeting after more price quotes are obtained.
7. Adjournment.
Ross McCain made a motion to adjourn, Charlene Hardcastle
seconded. All ayes. Meeting adjourned at 11:15 A.M..
