CITY BEAUTIFUL
COMMISSION
The City Beautiful Commission held its regular meeting Thursday, July the 7t', 2005, at
11:30 a.m. in the Sister Cities Conference Room on the second floor of City Hall. Chair Tim
Heiple called the meeting to order.

ALSO PRESENT: Bob Brown, Plans Development Administrator, Department of
Planning & Development, City of Little Rock
Christy Marvel, Landscape Specialist, Department of Planning &
Development, City of Little Rock
APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES:
Motion: Karol Zoeller moved to approve the minutes from the June 2" d, meeting as submitted.
Second: Cita Cobb seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.

OLD BUSINESS:
LandscaQe Awards -Lynn; handed out tentative schedule of events and responsible task list for
each CBC member. Please note the relevant dates and schedule your drive around with each
Board member as requested. CBC members also nominate sites that you feel are adequate for a
possible landscape award. Lynn will check with Scott Carter regarding a CBC brochure being
generated. Lynn also plans to attend a meeting of Landscape Architects to solicite nominations
for the 2005 CBC Landscape Awards. A CBC member should take nomination forms to the
local nurseries along with some landscape award nominations.
Networking Committee -Troy ; no report
Adopt -A -Street Committee -Karol and Jan; billboard donation has expired for the adopt -a -street
program. Karol continues to sit on the committee for the Keep Arkansas Beautiful Commission
and plans to keep the CBC up to date with upcoming events and progress. Pick up at Bowman
curve is scheduled for this upcoming Saturday at 8:30 a.m., meet at Senor Tequilas, Ann, Cita,
Lynn, and Tim plan to attend.
With Tom Gibbens on the Keep Arkansas Beautiful Commission the billboard advertising may
continue.
Eye of the Beholder Award s -Ann and Cita-please, turn in nominations and locate signs.
Polish the Rock Award-Cita; no report
Grants & Fundraising -Tim; Keep Arkansas Beautiful Committee is well on its way, recently met
and has many great ideas to begin working towards. Karol is involved and plans to keep the
commission up to date on projects and progress. Tim to check into the purchase of a computer
program titled "CorelDraw" for city staff use. Will report back on his findings.
Strategic Planning & Publicity -no report.
Bus StQp Project -John; no report
NEW BUSINESS:
Information regarding the proposed dump location of BFI near Fourche Creek needs to be
investigated further and perhaps someone can come give the CBC an update on plans and
progress in this endeavor. Perhaps, someone .can come present plans/intentions to the CBC
meeting in the month of September. Lynn will check with Troy Laha, it seems he is aware of the
proceedings involved.
