KarB committee until after the holidays. Tim will email the Iist of nominees to Jack Singleton.
Jack plans to be in attendance for the 2005 CBC annual retreat this coming Sunday. Jack noted
that CBC need to discuss which dates in March would suffice for training of the KarB
committee.
2005 CBC Retreat:
Tim would like each commissioner to report on their accomplishments for 2004 and their goals
for 2005. Tim would like the schedule to reflect the following time allocation:
30-40 minutes nominees
15 minutes each on committee reports
45 minutes brainstorming session
Landscape Awards -
Lynn mentioned new signage for the landscape awards that was more durable. Consideration

should be given to an upgrade. Certificates for the community awards for the green development
to present in the Spring.
0 Networking -
Troy encouraged CBC be more involved in the Board meetings and suggested a quarterly
presentation or report to the board.
• Adopt -A -Street -
Jan and Karol noted that the billboard had been moved back to the location by Buffalo Grill
again, on Cantrell. Publicity has been optimal in this area thus far.
Polish the Rock[
Present an award this year due to available funds. Be thinking of worthy candidates for this
award.
Grants & Fundraising
Tim noted again that the city had budgeted $2,500.00 for the CBC.
• Strategic Planning
No committee head; perhaps, Jan would enjoy.
Eye of the Beholder
Ann requests signs be in the possession of each CBC member by Sundays retreat. The duration
of the signage may work better on 3 month intervals; signage being displayed in the spring & in
the fall only.
■ Bus Stop Project
John noted that the bus stop project was complete and intends on focusing on another project.
Will check with Nash Abrams about the possiablity of the 1-30 project moving forward. Another
option might be the area around War Memorial Park off of Van Buren Street. Central Arkansas
Transit (CAT) bids out benches for the city.

OLD BUSINESS:
Tim noted that the CBC is still short one commissioner. Be thinking of potential candidates;
perhaps someone from a minority group.
Chairman Heiple ask Stacy Hurst what her thoughts were on primary goals for the CBC for the
2005 year. Stacy stated that litter by far was the number one issue needing addressed currently.
Staff hours are tremendous for litter pick up and it is a visual eye sore for the city. CBC working
with the Keep Arkansas Beautiful Commission is very promising.
It was mentioned that Janet Huckaby would be a good candidate for the Polish the Rock award
due to her statewide tickets to litter program.
.lack Singleton with Keep Arkansas Beautiful announced an awards program with a $500.00
award. It was noted the CBC applied last year and was not a recipient. Jack noted the
application is due in February and encouraged reapplying.
No pickup for this coming Saturday. It was postponed until January 29t' at 8:30 a.m. meet at
Senor Tequila's.
NEW BUSINESS:
Lynn Warren spoke with Janet Carson regarding the possibility of manning a booth and garden
space at this years annual garden show in February. If the commission decides to be involved it
would include a booth that is 10 feet by 10 feet and a garden space of 20 feet by 35 feet.
Discussion included the following:
+ amount of work involved
• lack of time to prepare
• no design for the garden or the booth area
• area is to be manned at all times
• a four hundred dollar initial investment(to be reimbursed)
• lack of materials/labor
Lynn is gong to check on the likelihood of the public works department having a booth that the
CBC can collaborate on and help man.
