3 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ACCEPT GRANT
4 FUNDS FROM THE NEA FOUNDATION, IN THE AMOUNT OF ONE
5 HUNDRED FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($150,000.00), TO SUPPORT
6 THE CITY'S COMMUNITY SCHOOLS INITIATIVE WITH THE
7 LITTLE ROCK SCHOOL DISTRICT; TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR
8 AND CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ANY AND ALL NECESSARY
9 AGREEMENTS AND OTHER DOCUMENTS FOR THE
10 ADMINISTRATION OF THE GRANT; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

12 WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock, Arkansas ("City") and the Little Rock School District
13 ("LRSD")have participated together in the Community Schools initiative since September 2020;and,
14 WHEREAS, the City acknowledges that 2022 Grant Funds are available from the NEA Foundation
15 to support the City's Community Schools initiative; and,
16 WHEREAS, the City has successfully applied for Grant Funds from the NEA Foundation and they
17 are desirous of awarding One Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars($150,000.00)to the City for this purpose;
18 and,
19 WHEREAS, City Board approval of this NEA Foundation Grant is necessary because, while the City
20 is not putting money into the grant, the City is guaranteeing that it will pay back One Hundred Fifty
21 Thousand Dollars ($150,000.00) should the NEA Foundation, in its sole discretion, determine that the
22 money was not used properly; and,
23 WHEREAS,there is no reason to believe that the Grant Funds will not be used properly, however the
24 acceptance of that amount of liability is a policy decision that requires City Board approval; and,
25 WHEREAS, the Grant Funds will be used as follows: 1) Social Worker at Chicot Elementary
26 School, sub-award to LRSD($75,000.00); 2)Community Cafés at six(6) LRSD Community Schools for
27 the 2022-23 School Year ($50,000.00); 3) Professional Development for Community School Coordina-
28 tors, LRSD School Administrators and City Staff($10,000.00; 4) Data System to monitor Community
29 School outcomes ($5,000.00); and 5) Travel - Southern Regional Community School Meetings, TA Site
30 Visit, Community School Conference,etc. ($10,000.00).
31 NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY
32 OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS:
33 Section 1. The Board of Directors of the City of Little Rock authorizes the Mayor to accept
34 Grant Funds from the NEA Foundation to support the City's Community Schools initiative with the

1 LRSD is follows: 1) Social Worker at Chicot Elementary School, sub-award to LRSD ($75,000.00); 2)
2 Community Cafés at six (6) LRSD Community Schools for the 2022-23 School Year ($50,000.00); 3)
3 Professional Development for Community School Coordinators, LRSD School Administrators and City
4 Staff($10,000.00; 4) Data System to monitor Community School outcomes ($5,000.00); and 5) Travel -
5 Southern Regional Community School Meetings, TA Site Visit, Community School Conference, etc.
6 ($10,000.00),for a total grant amount of One Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars($150,000.00).
7 Section 2. The Mayor and City Manager and any other necessary City employee are hereby
8 authorized and directed to execute any and all necessary agreements and other documents for the
9 administration of the grant.
10 Section 3. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or
11 word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or
12 adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution which shall remain in full force and
13 effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not originally a part of the
14 resolution.
15 Section 4. Repealer. All laws, ordinances, resolutions, or parts of the same, that are inconsistent
16 with the provisions of this resolution, are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
