3 A RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER
4 INTO A CONTRACT WITH THE LITTLE ROCK SCHOOL DISTRICT
5 TO CONTINUE A SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER PROGRAM IN THE
6 LITTLE ROCK SCHOOL DISTRICT, FOR THE 2022-2023 SCHOOL
7 YEAR BEGINNING JULY 1, 2022, AND ENDING JUNE 30, 2023; AND
8 FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

10 WHEREAS,the Little Rock Police Department seeks approval to enter into a contract with the Little
11 Rock School District("LRSD") for a School Resource Officer Program in the District, for the 2022-2023
12 School Year beginning July 1, 2022,and ending June 30, 2023; and,
13 WHEREAS,the City and LRSD desire to reduce juvenile crime and to promote responsible behavior
14 on the part of students; and,
15 WHEREAS, this objective will continue to be accomplished by the controlled interaction of the
16 City's Police Officers with students and staff of the District through the School Officer Resource
17 Program; and
18 WHEREAS, LRSD will reimburse the City for 50% of the salaries, benefits, overtime and
19 compensatory time for the each School Resource Officer while school is in regular and summer school
20 sessions.
21 NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY
22 OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS:
23 Section 1. The Board of Directors hereby authorizes the City Manager to enter into a contract with
24 the Little Rock School District to continue a School Resource Officer Program in the Little Rock School
25 District, for the 2022-2023 School Year beginning July 1, 2022, and ending June 30, 2023. Absent
26 termination by the City or the Little Rock School District, the Agreement shall be renewed for an
27 additional one(1)-year term and shall require a joint review of the terms and conditions of the Agreement
28 by both parties prior to the renewal date and communication between both parties that no substantial
29 changes are required.
30 Section 2. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or
31 word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or
32 adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution which shall remain in full force and
33 effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not originally a part of the
34 resolution.

1 Section 3.Repealer. All laws, ordinances,resolutions,or parts of the same,that are inconsistent with
2 the provisions of this resolution,are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
