HomeMy WebLinkAboutCBC_05 26 2022LITTLE ROCK CITY BEAUTIFUL COMMISSION The City Beautiful Commission held a planned meeting at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at Little Rock City Hall, 2nd Floor, Board of Directors Chambers, 500 West Markham St. Simultaneously the meeting was virtually held online using the WebEx format. Chairman Sanders-Woods, called the meeting to order. MEMBERS PRESENT: BJ Sanders-Woods Robert Walker PHYSICAL LOCATION Kristian Barre Bob Winchester Troy Laha WEBEX (VIRTUAL – Suzanne Peyton ONLINE) MEMBERS ABSENT: Kimberly Glover Beverly Palmer Louise Miller Kenny Stephens ONE OPEN POSITION: ALSO, PRESENT: Beth Carpenter, City of Little Rock, Attorney’s Office, Jamie Collins, Department Director, Department of Planning and Development Torrence Thrower, Development Specialist, Planning and Development, City of Little Rock. Tracy Spillman, Plans Development Administrator, Department of Planning and Development, City of Little Rock, via Webex APPROVAL OF THE MARCH MEETING MINUTES: Commissioner Sanders-Woods entertained a motion to approve the April Minutes. Motion: Commissioner Walker made a motion that the April 28, 2022, Minutes be approved. TREASURER’S REPORT: Expense Report: Commissioner Peyton stated that there was nothing new to report. COMMITTEE REPORTS, UPDATES: Public Relations In the absence of Commissioner Miller there was no new report. The commissioners generally discussed posting photos of Eye of the Beholder recipient’s homes on Facebook. Attorney Carpenter advised that if the photo is taken from the public right-of-way permission form the homeowner would not be required. KLRB: Chairman Sanders-Woods inquired if Commissioner Walker had attended that last KLRB meeting. Commissioner Walker responded that he had and gave a brief report. Commissioner Barre stated that she had recently accepted a job located near the KLRB headquarters and requested to be the commission liaison to KLRB. The commissioners agreed and Commissioner Barre accepted the appointment. Commissioner Barre agreed to attend the KLRB meetings that are scheduled to be held the fourth Wednesday of each month at the Willie Hinton Resource Center on W 12th Street. Adopt-A-Street: Commissioner Winchester stated that a Bowman Rd pick-up had been accomplished on May 21st with five or six people in attendance. After the general discussion the commissioners decided that the next pickup would be held on Saturday June 18, and the commissioners will meet at 8:00am in the Senior Tequila’s parking lot, 1011 S Bowman Rd. Staff further stated that after contacting former commissioner Steve Homeyer to retrieve the award yard signs the former commissioner volunteered to deliver these to the recipients. Mr. Homeyer also mentioned that that award signs that are available require a significant amount of storage space which he can provide if needed. In addition, Mr. Homeyer stated that if desired he would volunteer to delver the award signs to any future recipients. The commissioners discussed Mr. Homeyer’ s proposal and agreed to accept. T.R.E.E Fund: Chairman Sanders-Woods stated that there was nothing new to report. Landscape Awards: Staff stated that the 2021 Landscape Award Ceremony Awards will be held Tuesday, May 31st, 4;00pm at the Board of Directors meeting. Staff noted that the recipients had been contacted and encouraged all commissioners that are available to please be in attendance. Commissioner Winchester inquired if roses had been acquired to present to the recipients. Staff stated that they have not been procured and the commissioner stated that he would contact Tipton Hurst florist concerning the presentation flowers. NEW BUSINESS: There was no new business. ANNOUNCEMENTS: The next Bowman Rd pickup will be held on Saturday June 18. ADJOURNMENT: Chairman Sanders-Woods entertained a motion to adjourn the meeting. Motion: Commissioner Winchester made a motion to adjourn.
