HomeMy WebLinkAbout15669 RESOLUTION NO. 15,669 2 3 A RESOLUTION TO EXPRESS THE WILLINGNESS AND INTENT OF 4 THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS, TO ACCEPT A GRANT 5 FROM THE ARKANSAS HISTORIC PRESERVATION PROGRAM, IN 6 THE AMOUNT OF ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS($100,000.00), 7 TO STABILIZE THE PIKE-FLETCHER-TERRY HOUSE, LOCATED IN 8 THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS, AND TO EXECUTE A 9 HISTORIC PRESERVATION EASEMENT FOR THE PIKE-FLETCHER- 10 TERRY HOUSE TO THE STATE OF ARKANSAS,ARKANSAS HISTORIC 11 PRESERVATION PROGRAM; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. 12 13 WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, ("City") acknowledges that 2022 Grant Funds are 14 available from the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program("AHPP");and, 15 WHEREAS, the City has successfully applied for grant funds from AHPP and they are desirous of 16 awarding to the City grant funds in the amount of One Hundred Thousand Dollars ($100,000.00) for the 17 purposes of paying for Consultants' Services for the completion of emergency stabilization repairs to the 18 Pike-Fletcher-Terry House; and, 19 WHEREAS, the Pike-Fletcher-Terry House, located at 411 East 7th Street, Little Rock, Arkansas, 20 72202,is listed on the National Register and has significant architectural,archeological and historical value 21 to the City of Little Rock; and, 22 WHEREAS,the Pike-Fletcher-Terry House is currently the subject of litigation in the matter of Susan 23 Terry Bourne, et al. v. City of Little Rock, et al. (Case No. 60CV-21-6690); and, 24 WHEREAS,the Pike-Fletcher-Terry House is in a state of disrepair and is need of stabilization and 25 refurbishment to improve safety and to prevent further deterioration of the building; and, 26 WHEREAS,all parties to the suit agree that the City currently owns the Pike-Fletcher-Terry House. 27 NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY 28 OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS: 29 Section 1. The City of Little Rock hereby expresses its willingness and intent to authorize the Mayor 30 to accept grant monies from the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program in the amount of One Hundred 31 Thousand Dollars ($100,000.00) for the purposes of preserving and maintaining the architectural, 32 archaeological, historical and cultural features of the Pike-Fletcher-Terry House located at 411 East 7th 33 Street,Little Rock, Arkansas. The City of Little Rock hereby expresses its willingness and intent to authorize the Mayor 2 and City Clerk to execute a Historic Preservation Easement to the State of Arkansas,acting by and through 3 the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program, State of Arkansas, on the Pike-Fletcher-Terry House. 4 Section 3. Severability. In the event any title, subtitle, section, subsection, subdivision, paragraph, 5 subparagraph, item,sentence,clause,phrase,or work of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid 6 or unconstitutional, such declaration or adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution 7 which shall remain in full force and effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or 8 unconstitutional was not originally a part of this resolution. 9 Section 4. Repealer.
