To the MacArthur Park Historic District Commission commissioners and staff:
As the new owners of 624 Rock Street, Little Rock (CITY OF LR S37 1/2' OF 7 41), we are
requesting a Certificate of Appropriateness for necessary exterior maintenance at the property.
The property consists of two buildings: the main 1895 house and a 1930s garage with living
quarters above. The majority of the work will be done on the main structure, th ough the garage
needs a very limited amount of brick repair and paint on windows and trim.
The project consists of:
• Repairing both levels of the front porch of including replacing rotten wood on the
columns, banisters and balustrades
• Replacing the flat roof of the upper front porch
• Repairs to brick siding including securing loose bricks and tuck pointing
• Replacement/repair of rotten fascia and soffit where necessary (above the porch and on
the extreme east end on the north side of the structure)
• Replacement of any rotten wood on back deck
• Painting the repaired porches and existing wooden exterior trim and windows
All of the work will be done with the strict intention of retaining the building’s current look and
following the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Treatment of Historic Properties. All
salvageable materials will be saved. When current materials are beyond repair, replacement
wood or bricks will mimic the current material in kind.
We are sending photographs of the structure, a materials list, and proof of ownership. If any
other information is required, we will be happy to provide it.
Sincerely,
Mark and Kimberly Christ
