LITTLE ROCK BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
JUNE 1, 1959
The Little Rock Board of Adjustment met for a called meeting on
June 1, 1959 at 2:00 P. M. in the Board of Directors Chamber. The
fallowing members were present:
Mr. Wm. R. Meeks, Chairman
Mr. Lloyd R. Pearce
Miss Emily Penton
The purpose of the meeting was to hold a public hearing on Docket
No» 24-59.
Docket No. 24-59 - Temple Baptist Church, owner, Richard Groh,
Applicant, 2400 Wright Avenue, described as the north 28 feet
of lot 14 and the south 22 feet of lot 15, block 23, Park Ad-
dition, zoned "C" Two-family District, requesting a variance
from the front and rear yard provisions of Section 11 of Ordi-
nance No. 5420 to permit construction of an educational build.
ing. `
Mr. Childers, the pastor of the church, and Mr. Groh, the archi-
tect, were present. Mr. Breckling explained the request. The building
marked in blue on the plat will be torn down. They will provide more
than 1-10 parking space; the new structure will not come as close to
the property line as the existing building; it will be in line with the
rest of the houses on the lot; they hope to be able to purchase the ad-
joining lot.
The applicant filed a petition signed by eleven property owners,
stating they had no objections to this request. There was a misunder-
standing about the notice of hearing and it had not been signed by the
property owners within 140 feet. Mr. Meeks asked Mr. Childers if, to
the best of his knowledge, this petition contained the names of all of
the property owners within 140 feet of the property in question.
Mr+ Childers answered yes. It was suggested that the Board accept the
letter in lieu of the notice of hearing. The addresses are on the
letter.
Mr. Groh said he had discussed the subject of parking with
Mr. De Noble.
Mr. Pearce moved that it be approved, provided they stay 6 feet
frog the east property line and 4 feet from the rear property line,
MisO Penton seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
The meeting adjourned. Mrs. Melba Lawing, Secretary
