Essence of Love (EOL) Group Home
Program Summary
Essence of Love Group Home (EOL) is created to serve as a safe haven for adolescents
ages 12-1 S who are neglected, at risk, or currently in the foster care system_ Essence of
Love is a community -based program designed to unify youth with their families or foster
families. The program serves the purpose of reintegrating youth back into the community
successfully by providing social and recreational skills, behavior management,
independent living skills, workforce readiness skills, individual, group and family
therapy, educational services, and legal advocacy. Essence of Love is not just housing,
but teaching and learning. As we provide sufficient housing and security for the youth
we also teach them how to live life positively and successfully. Essence of Love teaches
the fundamental basics and skills of living within the community aiding in the production
of self-sufficient citizens.
Essence of Love program is comprehensive, multifaceted, and resourceful. The city of
Little Rock as well as the state of Arkansas has a tremendous need for a group home
tailored to meet the needs of youth who have numerous issues that are multidimensional.
There are little to no facilities that are located within the state of Arkansas that are
designated as a home like setting that provide housing and behavioral change tools for
youth within a community. Most behavioral management programs located within the
state are one dimensional addressing only one faction of a child's life or are correctional
focus facilities that do not provide the necessary skills children need to make them
successful once they are back into the community. Research shows the recidivism rate of
youth coming from a correctional or institutional type setting going back home is
extremely high. Most youth return back into those types of settings because while being
locked up or away from society they lose touch with positive aspects of a community and
resort to negative behavior. To combat the relapse of youth into criminal activity or
unsafe environments, Essence of Love has identified an appropriate site located within a
safe community that will be utilized to serve as a home for youth.
Essence of Love will provide services to not only the children but to their families and
designated guardians who need as well as desire family therapy and insight on available
resources for them. It is anticipated that the group home will serve youth from all social
economic status, ethnic backgrounds, religious backgrounds, emergency sheltering and
areas of need identified by referral sources. Social and other necessary services will be
provided for the house. The program will be financed through the Department of
Children and Family Services, private insurance, conventional lending, and public and
private matching funds.
