In support of Request for Variance

This letter of intent is in support of my request for a variance to the rear yard setback on the
west side of my house. The intention is to extend my existing Covered Porch into the 25' rear
yard setback a total of 9'-0". The attached survey shows the proposed Covered Porch addition
and the portion it will encroach on the setbacks.
Due to the pandemic travel restrictions, I enjoy my time at home and spend a lot of the time
out on my Covered Porch. I have created a quiet, garden space in my back yard and would like
to expand my existing Covered Porch (existing 9'-0" deep) an additional 9'-0". This will allow
me a covered outdoor eating area along with a comfortable seating area in front of my outdoor
fireplace and to further enjoy my outdoor garden space. My rear yard is surrounded by privacy
fences and I feel that my Covered Porch addition will not encroach on my neighbor's privacy.
