Subject: Z-9500-B Goodwin Manor before Board of Adjustments
Gary and Andrea Goodwin have applied for an R2 zoning variance for Home Occupation before
the Board of Adjustment on May 20th, 2021.
The Goodwins, owner of Goodwin Manor, have run their home as a large-scale event center for
weddings and charitable events for years. They have been listed as one of the top 10 wedding
venues in Arkansas, getting in the range of $5000 to $10,000 rent for the venue per event
according to wedding planning website. It appears they schedule dozens of such events per
year and the word "occasional" in their applications is simply not accurate.
They are listed to allow up to 200 guests per event. Each event often involves caterers, set up
people, photographers, parking lot attendants, security, and music.
The noise, disruption and traffic alone would disqualify the application for Home Occupation.
Please deny the request for this Variance.
