HomeMy WebLinkAboutCover Letter - Hardship 10.23.20119 South Izard Street Ste 200 : Little Rock, Arkansas : 72201 October 23, 2020 To: Board of Adjustments, City of Little Rock, AR RE: HARDSHIP LETTER Holiday Inn Express 811 E. 4TH Street Little Rock, AR 72202 We are requesting a variance for (2) signs at our above new location, (1) south elevation wall sign and (1) monument sign. We feel the need for the building signage on the south elevation is necessary for north-bound I- 30 traffic to be able locate our Hotel. Our Hotel depends on highway travel business and the I- 30 corridor is a high-traffic area. This sign will give travelers the opportunity to see the hotel if they missed taking the relocated 9th St Exit. If someone passes the hotel, this will allow them the go to the Broadway interchange, and come back to the hotel. We are also requesting the monument signage, in order to direct surface street traffic to our property entrance. With the major construction and rework of traffic flow on I-30, this sign will be essential to direct traffic safely and allow travelers to identify our business. Our industry has been hit hard with the pandemic and it will be critical to attract guests into our establishment. Having paying guests not only is a benefit to the hotel however it will provide tax dollars to the City of Little Rock, and the state of Arkansas. Thank you for your consideration. We are looking forward to having a long-standing relationship with the City of Little Rock and all the great things Little Rock has to offer. Sincerely, Shawn Govind Director of Real Estate Cc: Mayor Frank Scott, Jr.
