We first want to start off by introducing ourselves, we are Lindsay and Chris Olsen. We have been
married for just over 2 years and relocated to Little Rock in May of 2017. While we expected to only
stay in Little Rock for 3 years, we have fallen in love with the city and plan on making it home, which is
what brings us to where we are today.
We are currently working on rehabbing the current home at 5205 Kavanaugh Blvd and have worked
diligently to ensure that we are respecting the charm and character that makes this area of the Heights
special. The amount of painstaking, laborious and tedious craftmanship that has been put forth in order
to save this 100-year-old original Heights bungalow is truly remarkable, and something we take great
pride in. While we had the option to knock down this home, and build something that looks out of place,
we decided not to as we value the neighborhood as it was originally intended to look.
With that being said, we have heard from the Board of Adjustments and they are not happy with the
garage we have planned for the backyard alley. As stated above, we have put a ton of effort in to
keeping the traditional Heights charm, but we also realize we need to modernize the home on the
backside for 2 reasons, which includes the garage as it is currently built.
1) Our plan is to make this our forever home, and we value the safety of our private and
personal property. The garage design blocks 100% access to the petty thieves that stalk the
Heights looking for easy hidden alleyway targets.
2) We are building a home that is going to demand about $240/sf which is what other "new"
construction homes are going for in other areas of the Heights. We are hoping that by
building this home, we are not only pricing our home to the market, but also help to raise
everyone's property values in OUR little community within the Heights.
We both look forward to being neighbors, and hope that you are willing to support us with the City of
Little Rock when we go in front of the Board of Adjustment next week.
