As, I'd mentioned previously, Susan and I will be applying for a side -yard setback variance on the north side of our property between our house and Kavanaugh Blvd. You'll be receiving a certified mail notice from us advising you of a public hearing at which the Board of Adjustment will review the plan. We've been advised to notify neighbors that will be affected and seek letters of support, and since you'd have to look at the new building, we're giving you a heads up. If you find that you're willing to support the plan, we'd ask that you reply to this email saying so with your name and address in the signature line. It would greatly help our efforts. Our property line on the north side follows the radius of Kavanaugh, and therefore widens as it heads west. On the attachment, you can see an overhead site plan, and a view of the elevation of the proposed structure as it will look from the north and west. We're trying to build an open air carport and one story room addition attached to our house. The variance we're requesting would allow us to build a portion of the structure over the standard 5' setback (closer to Kavanaugh) up to, but not over the property line. This will allow us to construct buildings that are slightly larger, more functional, and with north walls that are at right angles (instead of at an angle that follows the property line, which would result in trapezoidal structures). Finally, all materials and architectural considerations are being made to match the existing structure, and with historic Craftsman style top of mind. It's important to us that anything we add to the property would be appropriate from both a design and scale standpoint that's fitting for the neighborhood, and we believe this plan accomplishes that, adding value not just to our house, but the neighborhood as a whole. So there you have it. We'll be sending in the application on this Wednesday 6/10 and would love to include support from you as part of that. Thanks for your consideration!
