Hi Hannah,
This is the information I sent to Brian last week.
To summarize what I will need information on as far as replacement building materials as it pertains to the roofing material
and the siding which would be visible to the public.
I know the roof framing, interior framing to support the roof and new roofing material on top are certain to be repaired.
What is in question is that new construction may create situations that will cause the siding on the west and south side to
need replacement. We will be able to better access that situation when we meet with the contractor.
The house is circa 1890 and I was previously told the garage structure was original and that the property was a
stagecoach stop.
The south portion was an add-on to the original garage, so I am not sure of the age of that section.
This property has been in my family since 1962.
I appreciate your assistance with this project.

Hi Brian,
I am in the process of getting bids for the repair of the south section of the garage caused by a tree from the State
property falling on it.
I need to make you aware of some of the situations regarding this project and have a discussion with you in the near
future as to what is going to be acceptable to the District.
1. The entire roof consisting of ridge supports, rafters, and metal roofing has to be replaced and rebuilt on the south
portion.
2. Roof material - existing is tin metal. The bid I am considering is to use Galvalume. This is a steel coil coated with a
metal alloy that is applied in 3-foot panels. The look is not the same as the corrugated currently on the building. This
product has better qualities and is screwed down to lathe strips on the roof frame and is cost-effective. I need to know
what my options are for the roof covering that would get approved by the District.

3. A likely situation exists that some of the siding on the west side will have to be replaced. The sliding door on that west
side will have to be removed to install the roof frame and will be put back. Due to the age of the wood/metal, it is possible
this side will have to get some new siding material.
4. The situation may exist that the interior vertical supports will have to be replaced on the east, south and west walls to
be able to support the new roof frame construction.
5. The south structure of the garage, in general, is not in good condition. The south outside wall siding consists of metal
on the bottom and 12 inch wood boards on top. This really needs to be replaced.
As you can see, it is like a house of cards. My dilemma is that if the tree had not fallen on the building, I would not have
had to do such extensive repairs at one time. Granted it was not in great shape but it was still standing. I would prefer to
get all the repairs needed to be doing a thorough job.
I was advised by the State Transportation supervisor to submit a claim to the State
I will be making a trip to Little Rock in the near future to make a comprehensive list of the damage. Please let me know
when you would be available to discuss this on-site with me when I am in town.
I am not entertaining any ideas of selling this property now or in the future.
Any advance information you can provide would be appreciated.
Thank you
Linda Pollock
