Good afternoon Trish,
Thank you for the information below. To echo Walter, since the masonry has already been painted this work will be
reviewed by staff for a COC as maintenance only.
A few questions before issuing you a COC:
Is the masonry foundation painted just at the front of the structure or completely around the structure?
From the photo you sent, it looks like several sections of the mortar have failed. Do you plan on repointing the
failing mortar joints before painting? I want to make sure to include all aspects of the project so that there is one
COC that is all inclusive of your work.
Could you provide a link to the latex paint product, and any additional product, you plan to use?
If repointing work will take place, could you provide a quote from the contractors you intend to use for this
work?
Lastly, I like to view the property in-person for COC and COA work. If you’d like to meet with me on-site and discuss the
work, I’m happy to schedule a meeting with you. Otherwise, I will come by and take more photos for our records.

Thank your for the quick follow up, Walter! We would like to re-paint the brick on the foundation/ lower portion of our
house. It has already been painted white by previous owners, but the paint looks unmaintained. We would like to put on
a new coat of white exterior latex paint on the mortar. The address of the home is 519 E 8th Street. I have also attached
a picture. Please let me know if you need any additional information.

We are going to look at this as maintenance since the masonry was already painted. Please send us
information on the structure you wish to paint (location, condition of surfaces,etc) and what you
actually plan to apply to the masonry surface (not necessarily the color). Send this all to Ms. Ratzlaff and
she will review it and if it all appears to be maintenance, she will issue to a COC (Certificate of
Compliance). This is would be a staff review and approval on your proposed work.
