Thank you for giving the QQA an opportunity to comment on the application from the AR Museum of Fine Arts before you this afternoon. As a member of the MacPark group, I have had many opportunities to participate in presentations and discussions associated with the newly imagined Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts and its relationship to MacArthur Park, as well as the Military Museum and the Korean War Veterans Memorial. We understand the current MacArthur Park sign, as well as the sign for the MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History and the Arkansas Korean War Veterans Memorial are both slated for removal. If at all possible, the QQA would like to see these signs reused in another location in the park. They could be reinstalled in the south section of the park to identify MacArthur Park and direct visitors to the military museum and Korean memorial. Our concern with today’s application is associated with the newly proposed MacArthur Park sign, referenced as options 1 & 2 for location #53. The concern is not with the material, color or font, but that there doesn’t appear to be information about the MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History or the Korean War Veterans Memorial. The QQA would like to recommend the following to rectify this deficiency: • using one of the new banner signs to indicate the property is MacArthur Park • The proposed sign #53, serve as a wayfinding sign for the MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History and the Korean War Veterans Memorial In order for visitors to more easily access the Military Museum and the Korean War Veterans Memorial, we recommend that the last section of the crescent drive remain two-way traffic (similar to they way it currently is) so that visitors are able to enter the eastern section of the crescent drive to get to the parking area adjacent to the military museum and Korean memorial.
