3 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND LITTLE ROCK, ARK., REVISED CODE
4 CHAPTER 8,ARTICLE II,DIVISION 1,§8-32(1988),CONCERNING THE
5 REMOVAL AND REVISION OF CERTAIN SECTIONS OF THE FIRE
6 DISTRICT, WITHIN THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS, TO
7 DECLARE AN EMERGENCY; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

9 WHEREAS,the Planning&Development Department Building Codes Division and Little Rock Fire
10 Department Staff have met to review the current provisions as they relate to the Fire District in the City of
11 Little Rock,Arkansas; and,
12 WHEREAS,both Departments have developed the following set of amendments to the revised Code
13 which are recommended for adoption by the Little Rock Board of Directors, in order to remove three(3)
14 Sections and revise one(1)Section of the Fire District within the City;and,
15 WHEREAS, such amendments are appropriate and necessary for the health, safety and welfare of
16 citizens.
17 NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY
18 OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS.
19 Section 1. These sections of Little Rock, Arkansas Revised Code (1988) Sec. 8-32 (1)(2X3X4) is
20 hereby deleted in its entirety and following language substituted therefore:
21 Sec.8-32. Fire District.
22 Therefore is hereby created within the City one(1) Fire District with segments bounded or identified
23 as follows:
24 1) Boundaries. Beginning at the northeast corner of Interstate 30 and the Arkansas River,
25 thence south along the Interstate 30 center right-of-way line to the intersection of Interstate 30 and
26 President Clinton Avenue,thence west along the President Clinton Avenue center right-of-way line
27 to the intersection of President Clinton Avenue and Sherman Street, thence south along the
28 Sherman Street center right-of-way line to the intersection of Sherman Street and East 2°d Street,
29 thence west along the East 2' Street center right-of-way line to the intersection of East 2°d Street
30 and Scott Street,thence south along the Scott Street center right-of-way line to the intersection of
31 Scott Street and East 8t Street,thence west along the East 8t Street center right-of-way line to the
32 intersection of West 8t Street and Center Street,thence north along the Center Street center right-
33 of-way line to the intersection of West 7th Street and Center Street,thence west along the West 7th

1 Street center right-of-way line to the intersection of West 7th Street and Gaines Street,thence north
2 along the Gaines Street center right-of-way line to the intersection of Capitol Avenue and Gaines
3 Street,thence west along the Capitol Avenue center right-of-way line to the intersection of Capitol
4 Avenue and Chester Street, thence north along the Chester Street center right-of-way line to the
5 intersection of Chester Street and LaHarpe Boulevard, thence east along the LaHarpe Boulevard
6 center right-of-way line to the intersection of LaHarpe Boulevard and Ottenheimer Plaza Road,
7 thence east along the Ottenheimer Plaza Road center right-of-way line to Interstate 30 and the
8 Arkansas River to the point of the beginning.
9 2) Buffer Zone. Where four (4) contiguous blocks, or more, comprise a Fire District, there
10 shall be a buffer zone of 200 feet, or 60,960 millimeters, around the perimeter of such District.
11 Streets, rights-of-way and other open spaces not subject to building construction can be included
12 in the 200-foot, or 60,960 millimeter, buffer zone.
13 Section 2. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or
14 word of the ordinance is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or
15 adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the ordinance which shall remain in full force and
16 effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional was not originally a part of the
17 ordinance.
18 Section 3. Repealer. All ordinances, regulations, bylaws and other matters inconsistent with this
19 ordinance are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
