3 TO ADOPT THE PULASKI COUNTY MULTI-JURISDICTIONAL
4 HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN, AS APPROVED BY THE UNITED
5 STATES FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY (FEMA),
6 FOR THE CITY OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS; AND FOR OTHER
7 PURPOSES.

9 WHEREAS, certain areas of the City of Little Rock, Arkansas, are subject to periodic flooding and
10 other natural and man-caused hazards with the potential to cause damages to people's properties with the
11 area; and,
12 WHEREAS,the City of Little Rock desires to prepare and mitigate for such circumstances;and,
13 WHEREAS, under the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000, the United States Federal Emergency
14 Management Agency (FEMA) required that local jurisdictions have in place a FEMA-approved Hazard
15 Mitigation Action Plan as a condition of receipt of certain future Federal Mitigation Funding after
16 November 1,2004; and
17 WHEREAS, to assist Cities and Counties in meeting this requirement, Pulaski County, with the
18 assistance of Central Arkansas Planning and Development District, has initiated development of a County
19 wide,Multi-Jurisdiction Hazard Mitigation Plan the County and all jurisdictions in the County;specifically
20 the Cities and School Districts.
21 NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE CITY
22 OF LITTLE ROCK,ARKANSAS:
23 Section 1. That the City of Little Rock, Arkansas adopts those portions of the Plan relating to and
24 protecting its jurisdictional area against all hazards and
25 Section 2. The Emergency Management Administrator is appointed to assure that the Hazard
26 Mitigation Plan be reviewed at least annually and that any needed adjustment to the Hazard Mitigation Plan
27 be developed and presented to the governing board for consideration and agrees to take such other official
28 action as may be reasonably necessary to carry out the objectives of the Hazard Mitigation Plan.
29 Section 3. Severability. In the event any title, section, paragraph, item, sentence, clause, phrase, or
30 word of this resolution is declared or adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such declaration or
31 adjudication shall not affect the remaining portions of the resolution which shall remain in full force and
32 effect as if the portion so declared or adjudged invalid or unconstitutional were not originally a part of the
33 resolution.

1 Section 4. Repealer. All laws, ordinances, resolutions, or parts of the same, that are inconsistent with
2 the provisions of this resolution, are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
