We should not send a message to property owners in the MacArthur Park Historic District that they are. Please deny the request for approval. That said, I'm disappointed the design didn't seem to take into account --at all --the directly neighboring sidential properties. My preference would be to see the design updated with those residences receiving more consideration. Don't worry about matching the print shop. 1315 Cumberland Street The new windows and especially the door are far out of line, but given that the door does not face the street and the windows were already replacing modern windows, I wouldn't be offended to let it slide. The best preservation scenario for the home would be to quickly get it to a new owner who can monitor further restoration closely. Denying the approval could delay that. I wish Glenda and Mary Sue the best because I struggle to do this stuff while living right in the city; can't imagine coordinating it from out of state. 901 Scott Street There's a similar complex Ding up on Rock St. near the bus stop and with its raised foundation, tall attic space, and close proximity to the st et, it ends up at about five stories and really towers over the buildings to the east of it. Hope this isn't a similar tcome. Also hope the necessary parking spaces have been calculated correctly. How will spill over b andled if a bunch of two -car tenants move in? Anyway, hope wiser folks than I are considering such things and that empty parking lot can be replaced with new neighbors.
