Dear Mr. Melkovitz,
Your application HDC2020-020 for Remove artificial siding, restore original lap siding,
restore guttering, remove deck at front of house, remove metal bars on windows,
restore screened porch on rear of house, restore cutaway brackets at north corner,
replace exterior doors, restore original widows and install storm windows, at 923
McMath will be heard before the Historic District Commission at their next meeting. A
date has been requested from the City Administration Office. I will let you know as soon
as I know the date and list all of the deadlines relative to that hearing date.
Your application will be item Three on the agenda. You or your agent must be present
in order for the item to be heard.
The application form states that “A description of materials for all exterior surfaces listed
above shall be provided to Staff at time of filing. Web site addresses are appropriate but
cut sheets of individual materials are preferred.” The following information will need to
be submitted to Staff by September 28, 2020 to complete your filing. If you are not
including any of the items below, please respond with “not applicable”.
Steps to house: Will the steps under the front deck be removed?
Walls: a bit of the original weatherboard wood siding is exposed on the south side of
the structure. Is it your intent to match or replicate this siding after the aluminum siding
is removed?
Back Porch to Screen Porch: Specify location of this action. Is this the lean-to on the
east side of the house?
Doors: Specify brand, model number, finish, and size for all exterior doors.
Windows: Specify brand, model number, and finish for storm windows. Will the storm
windows be operable or one fixed pane?
Lighting: Specify location, brand, model number, finish, and size for all exterior lighting
either affixed to house, garage, or freestanding.
Gutters: Show locations of gutters on elevations with size and materials of guttering
and downspouts.

Mechanical Systems: State location of any exterior air conditioning/heating system
units.
Satellite Dishes: State location and details on any satellite dish. If not using a dish,
please state so.
Roof: will the roof be replaced? If so, how?
Parking: It is your intent to include the expansion of the parking lot on the corner in this
application? If so, please update your cover letter and application to reflect.
