If they are large documents, you may want to dropbox them to me at my city address. I asked the mayor for a meeting to be set for no earlier than September 24 th. I have two other new filings to be on that meeting. Hi Brian, Thanks for that - There are a couple of pieces I’m thinking I have to have in place before I send in the application. Please correct me if I’m mistaken. If I can send in the application along with what I currently have just to get the process started, then get you the rest of the material as it becomes available to me, I could go ahead and do that. The plan isn’t changing much as far as 923 McMath goes. We’re just going to remove the overlay siding, repair the original wood underneath, remove the bars and front deck. I would like to visit turning the back porch back into a screened porch, but if you think that will be a tough sell, I won’t ask for that. One issue for this timeline is that I won’t be able to see what was original on the porch until I remove the overlay siding in the back. Considering the area I do have some concern about the security of the porch being screened. 2 I’ve sent along a 200’ property search to Billy R. at Pulaski County Title. Hopefully I’ll have that soon. That’s really the only piece I don’t have at this point. I would like to be on the earliest possible meeting. I’ve repeatedly tried to secure the property from intrusion by the homeless. I’ve spent thousands installing lighting and a security system... they have still been able to break through. I feel that once I get going I’ll need to work quickly to ensure they won’t undo or damage ongoing renovations. To recap: Can I send in the application, property layout and plan before I have the 200’ property owner search and mail outs? Let me know how to proceed. We do have a couple of items that have been filed that will be heard late late September or early October. I also have a couple that are going to file later. I will put you on whichever agenda you wish. If you want on the first one, I will need an application by the end of next week. Simply a building permit to get started. I will need to review the approvals that you have already received to see if there is overlap with this and the previously approved items. This does not seem to be anything that the commission would say no to. Are you doing a tax credit on this? This would be a good project for that since you are going back to near original. 3 On your list below, #s 1, both 2s, 4, and 6 (probably) would require a public hearing. 3 and 5 would probably be staff approvals. Go ahead and start on getting your abstract list together for a 200’ radius around the property including the Highway Dept. With COVID-19, our meetings are as needed and scheduled by the Mayor. I have three others that may be applying. If one of them does before you, I will let all of you know then the filing deadline will be. I want to get most of you on the same agenda. https://www.littlerock.gov/media/6585/historic-district-commission-application-2020.pdf HDC application and instructions Brian Minyard, AICP Urban Designer City of Little Rock 723 West Markham Little Rock, AR 72201 bminyard@littlerock.gov Phone 501-371-4789 Fax 501-399-3435 From: WFM [mailto:Wfm1684@aol.com] Sent: Monday, August 24, 2020 11:31 AM To: Minyard, Brian <BMinyard@littlerock.gov> Cc: Lee Fleming <leeflem@me.com> Subject: Re: 923 McMath (72202) Thanks Brian. I do want to discuss the 923 McMath Ave. project with you before formally applying. We can probably do this via email, but please don’t hesitate to reach out if you feel the need to talk in person. Our plan is to restore the house as much as possible. This will entail the following: 1. Removing the overlay asphalt siding and restoring and painting the original wood siding beneath it. From what I can tell tell the original siding seems to be in surprisingly good condition. 2. Remove the deck from the front. 2. Replace the decorative metal posts at the front porch with turned wooden posts that are more appropriate to the Queen Anne style of the house. 3. Replace the roof. 4. Remove the metal bars currently on the windows. Repair original wood windows where possible - replacing windows where necessary with wood replacements to match the existing windows. Installing storm windows over the wooden windows. 5. Replace the guttering on the structure to help with significant drainage issues. 6. Return the rear porch back to a screened porch. 4 7. Landscape and fencing would follow our original plan that was approved by HDC in 2014. 8. The duplex renovations will adhere to the original plan submitted in 2014: replace roof, siding and windows. To get the ball rolling please advise on first steps in the HDC process. Also, as the original 2014 application included renovations on the 10th St. apartments, which will not be included with this current application, will I need to submit an entirely new plan which excludes the 10th St. Apartments? Thanks in advance for your help. I was hoping there would be a place to access the staff report from the HDC meeting that was held when we received approval. If there isn’t an on-line source, would there be anyway for you to email a copy of the report to me?
