I spoke with the construction superintendent. He feels the tracks would be necessary due to
the weight of the doors. He says the concrete tracks would be at grade and suggested they
might be able to make it reddish in color to match the more bricks closely.

Just to clarify, I am fine with the swinging doors. I don’t think they will look that much different than the lattice that is
there.
What I do have an issue with is the concrete tracks.

I am a visual person, so I thought it might help to provide pics of the area we are discussing. The
first pic shows the section where we would like to install the gates to allow access to the air
handlers. They would meet in the middle, where the trim piece is, and would be of the same lattice
so as to blend in with the existing sections on either side. FYI, the gas meters on the left section
will go away with our new HVAC system since it is all electric. Let me know if you have any
questions.

The museum hires our own landscaper to perform lawn maintenance around the museum
property, which would include that area. They come weekly and provide excellent service. The
lattice and lathe would be the same as used now. Doors are needed to provide access to the
air handlers for periodic servicing.

If the spacing of the lattice and sizes of the lathe are historically compatible, I am fine with swinging doors. I am not fine
with the concrete tracks. Is the parks dept. actually going to weed eat around these so they will be functional over time?
If we have to have them, can we not do them in brick?
