I think that it is good that we are talking wood instead of Hardie Board. I also prefer the real wood over the plywood
because of delamination issues that are inherent with the plywood. Cedar everywhere would be preferred, if the budget
allows. From a Historic District Commission issue, one wood over the other will not require HDC approval.

Guys,
See email below from Tim. Your thoughts?
I have asked Morris Beck Construction to price a variety of combinations for the columns and fascia and that is
in the email below. The least expensive option is #3 that uses the plywood on the columns and cedar on the
fascia. As you can also see, they have offered to do all cedar for $407 more noted below Option 3. We can
discuss this Monday, but we need to give them some direction when the weather breaks. Thanks
Tim

I agree, but am trying to save money. Do you feel ok with the plywood on the columns? If so, please price
fascia as cedar and columns as plywood. Thanks

Tim,
Thank you for the quick replay
The 1 x 12 Cedar will be 16' Lengths
We would strongly recommend not using plywood for the Fascia. It has raw edges and you would have to
cover them with a trim which is almost impossible on fascia materials

Thanks, Ronnie.
I have a couple of questions. First, what is the length of the cedar 1 x 12s that you will use? Secondly, can
you give us a cost to replace all treated 1 x 12 (columns and fascia) with plywood, using no cedar? Thanks
Tim
