They have tried several ways to flatten the material, but it is splitting when they try to install it. We must have a replacement product for that use. They proposed a cedar alternate, which was not heartwood) for an added cost of $12,800. We also could use treated plywood, but we would have horizontal joints at every 8'. A third option would be cement board which can be obtained in 12' lengths, but still may have an occasional horizontal joint showing.
