Thanks Brian. Per our discussion earlier, I am hopeful the exemption will be allowed for the
porch railing height. There is certainly precedent on historic buildings such as ours. I have
emailed Paul Porter for approval to remove the three lights on the front porches. I will keep
you updated on his reply.

Curtis,
Please accept the following as an addendum to my response to the November 15, 2017 letter concerning application
#201709511 at 503 E 9th.
On comment “New panel MDP on NW corner of the building”, the current plan is to not include any screening around
this panel. This is acceptable in this situation. IF the panel is to be screened in the future, please contact the HDC Staff
for review.
On comment on providing elevation and detail of screening around condensing units, the detail shown on Sheet A3.1 is
sufficient and acceptable in this situation.
All other comments provided by the architect are acceptable.
Any changes to these plans that affect the exterior of the building or the grounds must be distributed to the HDC Staff
for approval.

Please see the responses to your comments in the review. The contractor would like to begin work (probably
just demolition) next Monday and we hope that these responses will allow that to happen. I have spoken to
Brian Minyard about his comments and hope that they are addressed. I am happy to come to your office to
discuss this, if you like.
